Plintron Global Technology Solutions Private Limited, a niche player in the enterprise mobile junction and Lycamobile is a global leader in prepaid international calling cards, both leading companies have announced their global partnership to lead the MVNA (mobile virtual network aggregator) market.
Lycamobile
offers low-rate international mobile calls services to immigrant communities.
It extended its relationship with the Chennai-based Plintron Global Technology with
a five-year deal that will bring an estimated revenue of $100 million. The
global partnership aims to hit the market that is fixed at $67 billion.
In
2010, both of these global companies have commercialized the MVNA business
model in the UK, said Mr. Mohan Kumar, CEO, Plintron. This partnership was made
on the 14-country launch of Lycamobile's services and hosting on private
cloud-based infrastructure.
Mr.
Miling Kangle, CEO of the Euro-550-million Lycamobile, said that as per the
agreement the company will provide services such as regulatory compliance and
licenses for patrons to launch mobile services in different countries. Whereas,
Plintron will provide the platform in the background. A patron can launch a new
service in less than six weeks, and it may take 18-24 months if arranged by
them.
Lycamobile
is a prepaid SIM card product that offers low-cost international calls directly
from mobile phones. It is distributed through a European network of over
300,000 retail outlets, and it is one of the largest prepaid international MVNO
with 6.5 million customers across Europe and Australia. A new customer can join
the Lycamobile family every 5 seconds.
Plintron
is currently working on its platform with a leading global distribution system
in the travel industry to enable e-ticketing and travel in the U.K. Mohan
Kumar, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Plintron, said the company
planned to raise the staff strength to 1,000 by the end of 2010 from 450.

The bulk of Lycamobile revenue is generated from its SIM products. Lyca Group has
started other businesses at global levels such as GT Mobile, Lycatel, Lycatalk,
